The “front end of innovation” is where ideas for new products sprout. The seedbed is a clear vision on new market developments and a company strategy aiming to add value. This process mostly preceeds the design brief, the established time for a design agency to be contacted.
With an innovation workshop Smidesign demonstrates that the participation of open minded designers during the front end of innovation can carry this creative process to a higher level.
We consider our participation a key factor to success. An innovation workshop preferably brings together different actors in the entire value chain including key customers, suppliers, experts, et cetera…
This approach has proven to be very successful in terms of the number of new product ideas and the consecutive startup of new product development projects.
Smidesign is also committed to designing products that are better for the environment and "ecodesign" was a particular focus of the 10 workshops that were held in the framework of the PRESTI-5 project "Ronny & Susy".
The biggest potential for innovation and eco-innovation lies at the forefront of product development and in these workshops we attempt to tap this potential.
Smidesign's Roadmapping Ronnies played the part of facilitators and external product designers, while the Sustainable Susies from the Higher Institute for Product Development brought considerable knowledge concerning ecodesign, materials and techniques to the table.
